2. When in doubt, follow the local
In the US and Canada, tips of 15–20% are the norm because servers are paid far below minimum wage. Skipping it can sting the service.
3. Some places don't tip at all
In Japan, South Korea and China, tipping is uncommon and can even be seen as disrespectful. A simple thank-you is the right move.
